About these terms

These terms apply when you book or receive a treatment at Maya Skin & Brow Studio (formerly Maya’s Beauty Skin), 315 5th Avenue, Room 807, New York, NY 10016, and when you use this website. By booking an appointment you agree to them.

Our services are cosmetic, not medical

Maya is a licensed esthetician. The treatments offered here — facials, exfoliation, extractions, chemical peels, microneedling, IPL and permanent makeup — are non-medical cosmetic skincare services.

• We do not diagnose skin disease, prescribe medication, or provide medical treatment.
• Nothing we say in the studio, on this website, or in our emails is medical advice.
• If you have a diagnosed skin condition, or you are unsure whether a treatment is right for you, please speak to a dermatologist or your doctor.

Your health information

Before treatment you will complete a consultation and consent form. You are responsible for giving us accurate and complete information about your skin, your medical history, allergies, medications, and any recent treatments. Some conditions and medications make certain treatments unsafe. If you withhold or misstate this information, we may not be able to treat you safely, and we cannot be responsible for the outcome.

Please tell us in advance if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, have used isotretinoin recently, have a history of keloid scarring or cold sores, or have any active skin infection.

Results

Skin responds differently from person to person. We will always tell you honestly what a treatment can and cannot do, but we cannot guarantee a specific result, and course lengths are an estimate rather than a promise. Before-and-after images shown on this site are of real clients and are not a guarantee of your own outcome.

Booking and appointments

• Appointments can be booked through this website or by calling the studio. Online bookings must be made at least two hours ahead.
• A $50 deposit secures your appointment. It is applied in full to the cost of your treatment.
• Cancellations, rescheduling, deposits and no-shows are covered by our Refund & Cancellation Policy, which forms part of these terms.
• Please arrive on time. If you arrive late we may need to shorten your treatment so that the next client is not delayed, and the full price still applies.

Prices and payment

Prices are shown on this website and are in US dollars. We may change prices from time to time; the price that applies is the one quoted to you when you book. Payment is taken in the studio — this website does not process card payments.

Treatment packages

Some treatments are offered as multi-session packages at a reduced price. Packages are for the named treatment, are for the use of the person who bought them, and cannot be exchanged for a different treatment or for cash. Sessions are booked in the normal way and are subject to the same cancellation terms as single appointments.

Your responsibilities after treatment

Aftercare matters as much as the treatment. We will give you specific aftercare guidance, and following it is your responsibility. Ignoring aftercare — particularly sun exposure, picking at flaking skin, or using strong actives too soon — can affect your result and, in some cases, your skin’s health.

We may decline or stop a treatment

We may refuse or discontinue a treatment where we believe it would not be safe or appropriate, where health information suggests a contraindication, or where a client behaves abusively towards our staff. If we decline a treatment on safety grounds, any deposit you have paid will be returned or moved to a suitable alternative.

Photography

We sometimes photograph treatment results. We will not photograph you, or publish an image of you, without your specific consent, and you can withdraw that consent at any time by telling us.

Using this website

The text, images and design of this site belong to Maya Skin & Brow Studio unless stated otherwise, and may not be copied or reused without permission. We try to keep all information accurate and current, but the site is provided as-is; treatment descriptions are general information, not advice for your particular skin. Where we link to another website, we are not responsible for its content.

Limitation of liability

Nothing in these terms limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be limited. Subject to that, our total liability arising out of a treatment is limited to the amount you paid for it. We are not liable for indirect or consequential loss.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of New York, and the courts of New York have jurisdiction over any dispute.

Changes

We may update these terms. The version that applies to your appointment is the one published when you booked. The date at the top shows when this page last changed.
